San Diego - Holistic Heaven
Ron Arbel - Holistic Massage Team
National surveys show that San Diego is one of the fittest cities in the US. Residents surf, bike, body build,
waterski, play volleyball, run and participate in marathons and triathlons. In fact, more professional triathletes live in San Diego than any other place except Hawaii. San Diego is also the home of one of the three US Olympic Training Centers. And we have more fitness clubs, health food stores, meditation gardens and spiritual centers than virtually any other city.
With the wear and tear on local bodies comes the need to fine-tune them back to perfection when necessary. So San Diego is also home to three large bodyworks schools, one of the best acupuncture schools in the US and more day spas and therapy spas than you can count. Because of our climate and laid back lifestyle, graduates from these schools tend to stay in the area. It really is Holistic Heaven.
San Diego This Week interviewed licensed Holistic Health Practitioner Ron Arbel to find out what you should look for if you want to take advantage of your stay here to get back in tune with yourself.
According to Ron, there are several levels of therapy. “You can begin with a massage therapist,” he says. “They require 500 hours of schooling and practice to get a license and can work with you on anything from a relaxation massage to a hurt-reducing sports massage.”
Then there are the Holistic Health Practitioners, like Ron. “If you have a problem, whether it’s knots in the shoulders or a bum hip, we can help you get to the source, even while you’re enjoying a muscle-relaxing massage. HHPs have at least 1000 hours of professional study, including anatomy and physiology to help reduce tension and get back in touch with your body.” If you’re in town for several days, Ron’s skills can also help you re-align you body and improve your posture.
“San Diego is nature’s gift to people,” says Ron, “and so we do everything naturally. When you get tired of taking pills to cure your ills, come back to San Diego. We’d love to work with you.”
