There are hundreds of dining choices in the Gaslamp Quarter so many that it’s difficult to drill down on which are the best; but if you’re in the mood for a steak (and seafood) here are a few spots that we found especially noteworthy. G5 George’s on Fifth serves only hand selected center-cut and aged prime certified Angus beef in San Diego, this restaurant has also been voted by 600,000 San Diegans as “the best of the best” when it comes to steak houses. Start your meal with creamy wild mushroom or California seafood bisque and then move to the chops: pork, veal, and lamb or a succulent USDA prime steak. And you might want to stick around for the entertainment Grammy nominated pianist Tom Barabas appears on Friday and Saturday nights.Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is a national (but very well-regarded) chain. The steaks are generously portioned, prepared to perfection, and come with complementary sides. The setting is fun and informal, hence, but don’t mistake that for any lack of quality in the steak you’ll receive. The Gas Lamp Strip Club: A Steak Place is not a strip club! It’s a fun steakhouse that lives up to the friendly moniker of the Gas Lamp Quarter. Not ideal for a romantic dinner, but definitely ideal for a frolicking fun time as customers (over 21) grill their own hand selected steaks over an open grill. By the way, Rachael Ray loves it here!Donovan’s Steak & Chop House won the Lamplighter Award 2008 Favorite Steakhouse, and it makes perfect sense since they only use prime meat, all the time. Many awards have been given to Donovan’s for both its wine list and simply being, consistently, the best high-end steakhouse in San Diego.Lou & Mickey’s Famous Steaks serves choice seafood and prime beef in a relaxed, inviting environment right at the entrance to the historic Gaslamp Quarter. The restaurant has received numerous awards for “Best Service” and “Best Wine List” and serves up dishes ranging from lobster and Atlantic Salmon to their famous steaks and lamb chops.Greystone is known as the preferred destination for prime steaks and seafood in the heartof the Gaslamp Quarter and features aged meat, seafood and pasta in an atmosphere of casual elegance. A reviewer commented that of all the steakhouses in the area it is difficult to “make a wiser choice than Greystone the Steakhouse.”
