Concierge Spotlight

Bobby Yudell
Paradise Point Resort and Spa
By Brian Bergen

Los Angeles native Bobby Yudell came to San Diego in 1994 to get away from the smog and start a new life. He quickly found a home Pacific Beach and a lifestyle he loved. Soon thereafter, he began working at the Paradise Point Resort and Spa. He’s held 14 different jobs at the resort (they really like him) and for the last five years he’s been a concierge.  “It’s the most rewarding job,” says Bobby. “There is never a dull moment – from giving driving directions to helping someone find an emergency dentist. It’s the ultimate service job.”

His commitment to his job and his guests is quite evident when he is asked about a unique request from a guest. Bobby said, “One time I had to wake up at 4am to hand squeeze fresh carrot and kale juice for a guest who was on a super healthy diet so he had it when he woke up.”

When guests ask him for sightseeing recommendations, he usually steers them to La Jolla. “It’s a short drive from our hotel and it is just a neat international city. People love to see the seals, there’s the aquarium, golf courses, shopping, great restaurants and the glider port, too.”

Bobby’s favorite place in San Diego is Mission Bay. “I recently got married and moved from the beach to La Mesa. I used to commute to the resort on my bike. I must have logged 20,000 miles on my bike riding around the bay.”

While today his commute is a little longer, guests at Paradise Point are lucky to have Bobby to point them in the right direction.
