San Diego Attractions Attract Romantics
Romance is everywhere in San Diego. What better way to get an overview of our amorous city than touring by
trolley? Old Town Trolley tours 30 miles of the most beautiful areas of San Diego and Coronado, and you can get off and on again wherever you want. Hop off at the Cruise Ship Terminal to board a harbor cruise or at Seaport Village to catch a carriage ride. Take the trolley to Ghirardelli chocolates in the Gaslamp and share a gooey sundae. While you’re in the neighborhood, buy matching island shirts or Maui Divers shell necklaces at Hilo Hattie to show the world you’re a couple.
Next, hop back aboard the trolley for a ride to Balboa Park and a romantic stroll. For an exclusive trip for up to 22 friends and lovers, charter “Felicity,” a white trolley with a vintage look staffed by tuxedo-clad drivers.
It’s the sea that calls to the romantic in everyone, but you can enjoy the ocean and its inhabitants from land, too. Book a table for two at SeaWorld for the “Dine with Shamu” adventure, where you’ll enjoy a buffet and special show as you get “up-close-and-personal” with a whale of a star. If you book the special “A Valentine’s Evening with Shamu,” on Feb. 14, you get a photo with your sweetheart and champagne, too.
For bragging rights and spectacular photo ops, visit Birch Aquarium’s tide pool. Featured in “Most Romantic Places to Kiss,” the bluff overlooking the ocean offers a magnificent view and a chance to bask in the glow of the Pacific. Inside, the dim mood lighting at the 70,000-gallon kelp tank offers a chance to steal another kiss or two in front of the underwater forest and its mysterious creatures.

For human creature-watching, it’s hard to beat Kobey’s Swap Meet. “Something for everyone” could be its motto, and we think strolling hand-in-hand while sipping an early morning coffee and shopping for surprises make it a special place for creative couples.
Joyful duos will want to venture to North County and Legoland, one of the best places to bring a date. Romantically inspired attractions include the Ferndale wedding scene in Mini-land and the man on bended knee proposing in New York City. Indulge the child in both of you all day, with the 50 rides and shows and lots of fun food. If you want to get serious, call ahead and ask the model shop to make you a special marriage proposal sign to help you pop the question.
